Hi Friends!! It’s time for the Monthly Pick-Me-Up! If you’re new or maybe don’t know what the Monthly Pick-Me-Up is, it’s an opportunity for us to get to know one of our community members and then send her some mail. For the full explanation on the MPMU, click here.
This month’s Monthly Pick-Me-Up featured community member is Eleanor!
(Guys, guys, Eleanor is from the UK, so I’m watching Downton whilst I write this so I can get into u’s in “favourite” and hear some delightful English accents.)
Eleanor is one of the first names I remember seeing on the blog that didn’t belong to someone I knew IRL which makes me extra psyched to send her a goodie package! Here is a brief interview with her so that you can get to know her better!
Tell us a little about yourself:
I’m Eleanor, age 32. Outside the home I am a corporate lawyer. I love reading, travelling and outdoor fun (running, orienteering, hiking, skiing etc). I also LOVE food (cooking and eating) and picking a favourite is always tricky but pizza is my go to treat and chocolate ice cream. No favourite beverage – I’m mostly a water girl with a fruit juice in the morning. I have been married to my wonderful husband just over two years. Our little boy is 15 months old (almost a honeymoon baby!) and his sibling has been growing inside me for 14 weeks now and should make an appearance sometime in late July. Hello, craziness!
What is something that makes you special:
Hmmm, I had a hard time answering this one so I asked my husband. He said that aside from a passion for him and our children, I have a heart for including people by which I think he means that I try to be aware of how we can invite people in to share our lives. (Her husband later added that she should include her passion for making nourishing food for their family!)
What is your favorite part of online community:
Connecting with lots of like-minded people in an easy way and being able to share experiences and tips.
What is you least favorite part:
My tendency to take the snap-shot of people’s lives that you get online and forget that it is just that, a snapshot, so compare myself unfavourably.
How do you get community in every day life:
Church family – we recently moved so are slowly building relationships in our new place which takes time, and means we value community via phone, email, Skype etc with our old friends and family even more.
What is your favorite way to build into others:
I like to offer practical help as that comes most naturally to me.
What if your favorite way to have others build into you?
People noticing what’s going on and just doing something small that lets me know they did.
Read any good books lately?
Hubby and I have been reading JC Ryle’s “The Duties of Parents” which is very easy to read but very challenging to digest and implement! Also very niche and will only be understood by other fans but at Christmas I received the final three books in my Chalet School collection which was very exciting and so I have read those.
What is your favorite post or topic at Life Around the Coffee Cup?
I am really enjoying the Mommy Guilt series but my favourite older post is the one about why you don’t get up before your kids.
Ok, the most important question: how do you take your coffee and how many cups a day do you drink? (And if you don’t drink coffee, Bless You. I seriously don’t know how you do it. So PLEASE! Tell us!)
I don’t drink coffee! I really struggle with limited sleep but somehow God always gives me the strength to get through whatever needs to be done.
Ok friends, you know what to do! Let’s send Eleanor some love this month! Here’s how and where to do it:
Leah Heffner PO Box 1044 Kingston, TN 37763 (please mark envelope MPMU or I might think it’s for me, open it, and then spill on it keep it!)
or email it to me at leahheffnerblog (at) gmail (dot) com
Get them post marked by February 28 so I can get them to Eleanor in one big package of fun!
Thanks for joining with me to support sisters in this community!
