Song of Solomon 5:16 His mouth is most sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.
Heavenly Father, God, thank you for my gentlemen of a husband. He is my knight in shining armor, slaying dragons and storming the tower. Thank you that you have created him to be that knight. May I be reminded of the dragons he slays and the towers he storms for me every single day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It was a simple enough gesture. My husband and I were on a walk, for the the very first time, walking together when we started dating. As started out across our college campus, our path never changed but what was next to us did. Parking lot on one side, then the other. A street, a gutter, a crowded crosswalk.
And as we walked and talked, my husband effortlessly changed sides at a moments notice. Even I didn’t realize what he was doing until we go to that crowded cross walk and his hand reached up to the small of my back and guided me away from the worst of the crowd.
The whole time he had been slaying dragons – putting his shield up by making sure he was between me and whatever dangers might lay in our path.

Thanks, love, for always walking on the outside of me. For walking on the outside of our children. For making sure we are safe and for being my knight in shining armor.

We live in an area where more people than need them have tough mean looking dogs. I tend not to notice them but my husband does very time and guides me and/or the baby away from them. I used to think it was silly but now I realise it’s him protecting us, without me even realising we needed it. Love him.
