Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Heavenly Father, God, I thank you for my husband. I thank you that he is a manly man, working up sweat and getting filthy dirty. Thank you that he takes times to take care of his outward appearance – not out of vanity but as a representation of the upkeep of his body being another way he worships You, the God who created it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you’ve read my bio, you know that I am married to a “sexy, beard-sporting, man of God”. I’m a beard girl myself, letting my husband know that I prefer when he has a beard – just like he lets me know that he prefers my hair to be as long and as crazy curly as possible.
Since I have known him (right at 7 years) he has been a clean-shaven face two times – once while I was living in Mexico (that was a BIG surprise to come home to!) and while we were on our honeymoon (and I can’t for the life of me remember why he decided to shave).
About four or five months ago, my husband started talking about letting his always-well-trimmed beard “grow out”. I was picturing Duck Dynasty beard. Honestly it made me a little nervous thinking of how it might look if it got that long. I told him I wasn’t sure about how it would look but that I would be interested in seeing what it looked like as it grew.
His beard is getting a lot longer. He can’t let it get scraggly though because he works for a large company. People are starting to comment on his beard at work. And he got worried, thinking he’s have to trim it back down or learn how to groom it well so that even long, it would always look good. (For the record, it never looked bad, but you know how when everyone is commenting on something and you think it must look bad then? Yea, like that.)
A few weeks ago, at a craft fair, I found an all-natural beard oil and mustache wax. I was going to save it for Christmas but since he’s working so hard on his beard, I gave it to him now.
He loves it! He gets to feel a little freer by having a longer beard and he’s still cleaning up very nicely to be presentable at work.
Win-Win.

Thanks love for being you. Thanks for taking care of your beard. For making sure your Five Fingers don’t reek. For asking for my feed back if your shirts smell clean. And for all of the other ways you take care of yourself.

Now, it’s your turn. Take a minute and write what you’re thankful for when it comes to your husband’s job or a prayer of thanksgiving of your own. Put it in the comments, on facebook, twitter, or instagram. Be sure to use the hashtag #thankshubs and #day12hygiene when you post it. You can even tag me @leahheffner (twitter) or @respectdare (facebook and instagram). And if you’re a blogger, put it in the linky below and grab the badge to put on your post.
