I didn’t set out to learn about how God designed women. I didn’t mean to start a journey that has had me reading countless books, having all kinds of amazing conversations, or starting a blog to encourage other women.
But that’s what happened.
That’s what happened when I picked up a book on marriage called Love & Respect. That’s what happened when a light bulb *pinged* above my head and I saw examples of how men are wired differently than women. That’s what happened when I couldn’t stop there and kept digging into all kinds of books.
Because it’s not that I didn’t know this fundamental truth that men and women are wired differently. I just didn’t know what that looked like exactly. Or how it played out. Or how it would impact my marriage.
Even now I love reading about the women in the Bible and how God used them in their unique woman-ness. I love talking with women who have trudged this path before me and what they have learned and what they are still learning and what they are willing to share.
And I love finding a good book or Bible study that talks about women being the women God created them to be.
True Woman 201 Review
True Woman 201 is a 10 week Bible study focusing on the book of Titus- especially Titus 2:1, 3-5 which reads:
1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
The study has been divided into 10 parts based on the 10 instructions found in the verse: discernment, honor, affection, discipline, virtue, responsibility, benevolence, disposition, legacy, and beauty.
They call it True Woman 201 : Interior Design. It’s about the elements that go into the design of every woman. And it reminds us that God didn’t intend for us all to be cookie-cutter-church-ladies, but rather by using our design elements we would be able to see and appreciate and know how truly beautiful, unique, and wonderfully designed we each are.
I’ve been doing the study myself the last two weeks since I got my book in the mail. It is marked and answered on the inside by someone eager to learn more. And it is marked and colored on the outside by a little girl eager to do what she sees her mama doing.
And then it occurred to me that beyond what I’m able to learn about being the woman God designed me to be, this is what I so badly want my daughter to know – that she was fearfully and wonderfully made and that God has unique plans for her and her life. I want to pass on the legacy of faith, strength, dignity, and womanhood that my mom passed on to me.
Learning more about what God has for me as a woman is both present and future tense for me.
And for all of us.
No matter where we each are on that journey, True Woman 201 is an excellent tool for self, partner, or group study.
(And the weekly videos are available both on DVD or on truewoman201.com for free which is awesome.)

I have 3 daughters. I want them all to know God as well and His good design for us as women, Something society tries to deny them. This sounds like a great book!

I LOVE the idea of this study and would love to try it out! I desire so much to leave a legacy worthy of following to my kids. I want to be a model of a Titus 2 woman and an Eph 5 wife and a Prv 31 woman. But I am so weak and need so much help!!!
