Tuesday, I showed you the Virtues Training Bible and what a great tool it is to teach your kids (and you too!!) the virtues that are in the Bible and where they are. It’s all about going right to the source – God – for His thoughts on what we should be doing.
And there’s another kit that is similar called the Children’s Training Bible. It highlights the verses about the things we talk to our kids about all the time – anger, fighting, impatience, and more – and shows us again what God has to say about these things.
While some of the verses overlap, there are so many great things in both kits, that I wanted to use them both!! And instead of using two separate Bibles for this, I wanted them all in one place.
So I looked around and wondered what other people thought about putting them together and most people liked the idea but there wasn’t a tutorial or directions for it.
Until now!
Here are my tips for using both the CTB and the VTB in one Bible!
1. Plan your tabs! The colors are the same, so consider using two different kind of tabs (like flags for the CTB and plain for the VTB). [Of course if you choose flags for the CTB, you’ll have to double up the blues and reds.] Or you can do what I did and mark the tabs with a “C” and “V”.
2. Plan your pens! Highlighters are fun but with about 700+ scriptures to highlight between the two kits, I recommend something less heavy. Try underling the CTB and twistable crayons for the VTB.
3. Plan where you’ll put the kit pages when you’re done. I put my CTB in the front cover of the Bible and the VTB in the back cover, so they don’t get mixed together and are still totally usable.
4. Do one kit at a time. That way you’ll have practice reading the sheets and matching the tabs. Plus the VTB has about twice as many verses as the CTB, so you can’t match them one-for-one.
5. Remember why you’re doing it! This project is a labor of love for your kiddos or grandkiddos. Your tabs may not line up perfectly or they kids may grab your pens and scribble on the pages. This tool is to teach them about what God says in His word. Remember that your goal is to teach them God’s word and you’re all set!
P.S. Don’t forget about the giveaway of a VTB. Be sure to check the widget on THIS POST.
