Good Morning after Christmas, dears.
It’s that kind of day where ideas are bouncing around my head like ping pong balls. The kids are tired but not napping. And the laundry is in a mountain, besides what I haven’t gotten done from the move. My to do list is small (on purpose) but seems ridiculously huge. I start to do one thing and can’t get it finished before I think of something else I must do RIGHT now and then don’t get that finished either. It’s a good movie day, except that our DVD player broke and I don’t have many VHS’s anymore (because, who does?).
And I have some BIG, nay HUGE, MONSTER plans for the blog that God is just a-growing in my heart. But I know it’s the week of Christmas and frankly, you all have enough of your own stuff this week without me launching into new plans and stuff.
So what’s good for this holiday week?
New Year’s resolutions.
Or really, goals.
I’m not going to post mine today (I don’t actually have them written yet) but definitely before New Year’s Eve.
I want to be real with you. I am not a perfect mom. Or wife. Or daughter. Or sister. Or anything really. And I want to do better. So I want to share with you my thoughts.
Categories-wise, I’m thinking:
Spiritual
Marriage
Mothering
Homemaking
Ministry
Relationships (other)
Health
(Anything I’m missing??)
And because I took an awesome Bible study this last semester on time management, I’ve actually been thinking about these for a while. In the study, the author suggested figuring out what is most important to you overall. Which I know is daunting in and of itself, but may I suggest you pray about it and start there? But God will give you something and then the rest of it can be big or small accordingly. So know that I’ll be starting there. And I pray you will too.
Then goals should be tangible and measurable. You know the biggest goals are lose weight/work out and to stop smoking? Neither of those are mine (ha!) but to use them for an example. Instead of lose weight in general, what about “lose 15 lbs this year” which is just over 1 lb per month. What about “quit smoking by throwing away last pack on Jan 5th and buying the patch”?
And then, get accountable. In your small group, with a girlfriend or sister, on your blog, somewhere. Find someone who can lovingly hold you accountable. For me, I will probably use this but there are areas I would rather talk in person about.
Because I’m not an over-complicated girl nor is the writing of goals my strong suit, that’s going to be it.
I’m excited to share this with you!
Would you share with me?
Dare you!
-Leah
**Edit** I thought of another category! My to-read list!

Hi Leah, thanks for this. would you mind sharing more about the bible study in time management?
Leah Heffner says
Hey Tatiana! We read “Making Room for God in Your Hectic Life”. It is probably NOT what you would expect if you were looking for traditional time management. Instead, it is a book about looking at what you are doing and seeing areas in which you can say no so that you can spend more time with God, more time as a family, and more time having rest. I recommend it highly. Thanks for asking! -Leah
