Hi Friends!! It’s time for the Monthly Pick-Me-Up! If you’re new or maybe don’t know what the Monthly Pick-Me-Up is, it’s an opportunity for us to get to know one of our community members and then send her some mail. For the full explanation on the MPMU, click here.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Hi, My name is Leigh-Ellen and I’m 25 years old. I’ve been married to my sweet husband James for almost 6 years and we have three children, ages 4, 3, and 1. We also have another little one on the way that is due in October. I’m a stay-at-home mom and some of my hobbies include baking, reading, crafting, organizing, and playing guitar. I love a nice, warm cup of coffee in the morning and my meal of choice would be a big steak. Also, while I try to live a sugar-free lifestyle, I still have a weakness for birthday cake ice cream.
What is something that makes you special?
God created me with a love for children. Since I was a kid, I have always enjoyed being around babies and little ones. Nothing beats teaching them God’s Word and His love for us. Since becoming a mom, my passions have extended to other moms and families. Being a mother is harder than I ever imagined and I pray that I can be an encouragement in some way.
What is your favorite part of online community? Why?
I find joy in inspiring other mothers to keep going when life is difficult. To remember God has a plan for us and our family. Another reason why I love online community is that I can be encouraged and inspired from others as well. For me, it’s hard to find others in my small town that value the same things I do when it comes to family, homemaking, and children. I enjoy knowing that others are their for me and understand my struggles.
What is your least favorite part? Why?
My least favorite part is being misunderstood. When we are behind a computer screen and are not having a face-to-face conversation it can be easy for things to be taken the wrong way.
How do you get community in your every day life?
Getting together with my family and church members during the week give me a sense of community everyday. I would also consider Facebook as an everyday community because of the groups I’m involved in and the inspiring quotes/posts that I read on their.
What is your favorite way to build into others?
I love to bless others with a meal. For me, I’m a busy mom and it would make my day if someone would invite us to dinner or drop off a prepared meal.
Is there anything else we should know about you?

Read any good books lately?
I’m currently reading The Life Giving Home by Sally Clarkson and it is amazing! I love everything from Sally but this book is such a great tool for families. It makes me want to host a fancy meal for everyone that I have ever known, so that we can have a feast and drink tea together. She shares about the importance of hospitality and different traditions that the Clarkson’s have shared together.
What is your favorite post or topic at Life Around the Coffee Cup
I love Leah’s post on Getting Kids to Obey and I think she offers some really great tips!
How do you take your coffee and how many cups a day do you drink?
Now that I’m pregnant again, I’ve cut back to only one cup of coffee a day. I love to add cream, stevia, and a scoop of collagen.
