It’s Monday. I’m moving slow. I didn’t sleep well but the coffee helped. YAY COFFEE!
Heffner Homestead
I can’t say I’m much in the way of homesteading these days. Could be the bowling ball sticking out on the front of me! But the carrots I sowed rather hap-hazardly are growing very nicely. Also our cabbages are flourishing. YAY! Sauerkraut for everyone! We just need to get it protected from the bunnies. Eeesh.
We also went to an apple orchard yesterday (apparently we missed you pick season…so much to learn here in East TN) and we got 3.5 bushels of apples. That’s a lot. Suddenly wishing I owned a food mill or one of those peeler corers. Applesauce for everyone! Fruit leather! Fermented applesauce!!
Cutie Kids
Lemonade
A week ago at the library a woman was selling hair bows and my daughter wanted…I don’t know…all of them? And I said you have bows at home! So now we are cycling back in hair bows that she hasn’t worn in years and there are certain ones that she is saving, just in case the baby is a girl.
She also did the number 6 at school this morning 🙂 I love that she’s learning her numbers.
Dozer
So Dozer is really loving bow ties so my mom made him some new ones. Yesterday at church, both pastors had bow ties on and he said “Dey wike me!” Yes handsome, just like you.
He found a dollar in his garage sale shorts this morning. I thought to myself “where did this kid get a dollar!?” (he’d be just as happy with a nickle). It might go to mommy’s slushy ice fund 🙂
Pregnancy Update
I’m 37 weeks pregnant and I look like I swallowed a bowling ball.
See?
Anyways, the baby is head down so technically I’m set to go. Tell that to the stuff at home that isn’t ready or the car seat that has yet to be installed. Hospital bags need packed. And I’m not really worried about any of it because my babies have traditionally come late. So I’ve got a solid 3 weeks to get stuff ready? Yeah, I’ll take it.
I’m getting some CDs ready and some scripture passages. I’ll be sharing them with you soon (hopefully).
What I’m Reading
I’ve finally started Bringing Up Girls … YAY! I just read (and did a review) of Writers to Read. And I still need to finish Redeeming Childbirth and a Christmas devotion called Experience Christmas (review coming soon).
In the Bible, I’m in Psalms. Which has been really fun. I used to read 5 a day, so seeing some of my old notes has been really cool. And my MOPS has a Bible Study and we’re doing Seamless. I’m still just getting started on it but I love Angie Smith’s writing style.
In Other News…
I don’t have much here. Would love for you to join us on the facebook page. I’ve been putting up some great pics and quotes and would love to see you there!

You had better get ready! 🙂 my first came 2 weeks late… my second surprised me 2 weeks early! I was expecting another late one since my mother always went late too..

Oo, thanks for the advice. I’m ready-ish. But I’m certainly not as ready as I was 4 weeks ahead of time with baby 1. OO how things change.
