Cutie Kids
So the big kids are pretty enamored with the new baby. Before she even talks to me in the morning Princess Lemonade needs to see baby Poppy and give her kisses and hugs. She also likes to lay next to her and just be close to her.
Dozer too just loves her so much. He asks to hold her all the time and has special tickles just for her.
Speaking of Dozer, he also is not a real kissy little fella but he today asked for a series of kisses including Cap’n Hook, Mr. Smee, Jake, Cubby, and Izzy kisses. This kid. <3 I tell ya.
Lemonade is also super into doing her own hair with barrettes that my mom made her. Today she put four of them just in her bangs. I wish I had taken a picture.
And baby Poppy is starting her facial expression montage as of late. Also now that she’s chubbin’ up the 0-3 clothes are starting to fit and HOLY SMOKES do I have some cute baby girl clothes. Tutu skirt pants. Tiny dresses. O I can’t handle the cute.
Heffner Homestead
We are getting frosts around here and the small cabbage heads are looking good. Apparently we lost the beets and chard. We have a rotting pumpkin on our front steps.
And did I tell you about all the dill? How I thought I had a hundred carrots but it’s all dill? I’m not a good gardener. Good thing this is my learning year. 😉
Farmer’s market going strong around here. Hubby took the kids this morning because he’s a rock star. They got broccoli which is Princess Lemonade’s FAVE. Apparently the baked goods lady wasn’t there today. Whatever.
We’re workin’ our back to Eden angles. Hubby called the utility office to get wood chips. He’s getting free manure from a horse farm down the road. And he’s mulching leaves like a mad man. It’s fun to watch him have so much fun with his garden.
What I’m Reading
Ok, so right before baby Poppy was born, a friend lent me For the Love and I read it while I paced the driveway trying to encourage contractions. There are so many sticky notes sticking out of this book (since the book is borrowed) marking things I want to just re-read.
Bringing Up Girls is still on my night stand. Dr Dobson knows his stuff, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the easiest thing in the world to read. The first chapters are always my absolute favorite and then I kind of drudge.
In Other News…
I need to look for an all-natural recipe for dry shampoo? Because I need these hair washings to last longer. I mean right? And I swear, every time I have a baby my hair is so super long and I think “YES!! This rules!” and then my hair is in the way when I’m nursing or tickles the baby’s face when I bend over to check on her. So then I think I should chop it off. But I know that’s rash. So dry shampoo.
And I think that’s it.
Would love to hear from you all. So leave a comment, or come hang out on social media [F, T, I, P]
