I’m going to let you in on a little secret – some Thursdays I purposefully wait to blog until I get home from a local moms’ group because I know I will learn something cool and I’ll want to blog about it.
Today is no exception.
Marriage is hard. I don’t think anyone would argue with that. Whether our “hard” looks the same or different, there is certainly no denying that hard it is and hard it will remain as long as sinners continue to get married and as long as Satan sees that the greatest way to undermine God’s plan is to throw it into chaos and that includes marriage.
So this morning the passage that started off the talk was Romans 5:3-5 which reads:
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
I’m going to work on more thoughts about this later. But for now, I have a lot of thoughts on this and they aren’t coming out clearly. So I guess I’ll keep you on the edges of your seats.
Dare you to start thinking about this verse. What are we going to learn do you think?

But I think the thought “marriage is hard” can also be quite freeing! EVERYONE’s marriage is hard – not just yours. EVERYONE has struggles – not just you. It can be quite liberating to know that you’re not doing something wrong; it’s just hard!

I like Jenn’s point. And when you know it’s going to be hard, it helps you to put on your armor and work for your marriage. Otherwise, the enemy can just blindside you. Believe me, I’ve been blindsided! As for the Bible verse – this one was very comforting to me recently as I went through some trials! 🙂
