“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a Spirit of power.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Heavenly Father, God, thank you for the spirit of adventure that you have put into my husband. Thank you that he wants to conquer and discover and looks at things through different lenses than I do. I confess I sometimes see these adventures as ‘worthless’ or ‘too time consuming’ and I ask for forgiveness. Grant God that I would not only grow to appreciate my husband’s need for adventures, but his actual adventures too. And prepare my heart to join him on his adventures. He needs to know I’m on his team, and that I think he can do it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

When my husband proposed, he wrote me a story. He told me about a boy and a girl that God had created to have adventures and that the boy wanted to take all of his adventures with the girl by his side for the rest of his life. Time and time again we come back to the idea of our life being an adventure. There is nothing ho-hum or boring about our lives. It is our one shot, each day, at a big adventure together while we walk this earth.
Just last week, I overheard my husband talking with another guy and my husband told the other guy that marriage is NOT the end of adventure, but the start of the greatest adventure you will ever have the pleasure of doing. YES! That is how we can look at our marriages.
We need to encourage our husbands and their need, desire, impulse for adventure. It’s not a waste of time for him to go for a run, or a hike. Yes, it might be scary for him to start a business or to go out without cell service into bear country. But God knew what He was doing when He created these men who want to see and experience and conquer. These men who want to explore and see more of what God has for them. And these men who want their greatest adventure to be life with US!

Thanks, love, for always being ready for an adventure. Whether that means starting a business, hiking with our two toddlers, or canoeing the boundary waters, you amaze me at what you are willing to try and tackle. Thanks for asking me to be your greatest adventure. We’ve had quite a ride. And I look forward to lots more.

Now, it’s your turn. Take a minute and write what you’re thankful for when it comes to your husband’s job or a prayer of thanksgiving of your own. Put it in the comments, on facebook, twitter, or instagram. Be sure to use the hashtag #thankshubs and #day3spiritofadventure when you post it. You can even tag me @leahheffner (twitter) or @respectdare (facebook and instagram). And if you’re a blogger, put it in the linky below and grab the badge to put on your post. I can already see how these days are growing us and blessing our husbands. Can’t wait to see what the next 27 days bring!
PS Be sure to check out today’s video where I confess to making ridiculous faces when I mess up and I gush ever so slightly about one of the things I love most about my husband.

Thank you Lord for a husband who has a spirit of adventure. This is a big part of what makes him who he is. Thank your dear for always seeking out the next adventure from going into
the hills to find your own water supply to figuring out the most complex situations that most persons have given up on. Though I must confess I don’t always get it or support your adventures and may even speak negatively about them I thank you. Lord help me to see the value and importance of his spirit of adventure, as it is a big part of who he is and what attracted me to him in the first place. Help me to not only watch from a distance but join in on some of his adventures. Help me to be committed to staying on his greatest adventure yet, life with me. #thankshubs #day3spiritofadventure @respectdare

Day 3 – Spirit of Adventure
Jason, One of the things that made me fall in love with you was your Spirit of Adventure. Your love for the outdoors and exploring Gods creation was what made me fall in love with you. Later I saw that spirit of adventure spill over into all areas of your life. You fearless trust in God to follow Him where ever He leads no matter the cost, has only deepened my love for you over the years. Thank you for keeping this part of you, the very part I first fell in love with, still such and core part of who you are!
