I can honestly tell you I did not expect to be sitting on the floor of my kids’ toy room, tears rollin’ down my cheeks. But that’s where I found myself one morning this week.
The Adventures in Odyssey we were listening to should have had a pregnant lady warning label on it. “Warning: As you are already highly emotional this will probably make you cry. But enjoy!”
The AIO I was listening to is based on the movie ‘The Drop Box’.
The overwhelming theme is the importance of all people – no matter their size, possible illness, disability, age, or any other factor.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
And that’s when it occurred to me that I’ve been missing part of the big picture. On my prayer list, I pray for women considering abortions and I pray for women to consider adoptions.
We can pray for the hearts of people – to see others as people. That they would be able to see an acknowledge God’s masterpiece right in from of them.
Ya know, I’m in my second trimester, and when I talk to my kids about the new baby I tell them that God is in there, knitting together our new baby. (Psalm 139:13) And that means that my baby is a masterpiece.
When our first baby was born and they took her from us to do her hearing test, I remember quickly turning to my husband, fear in my eyes as I said “What if she’s deaf?” And my husband said “Then we learn sign language.”
What we see as imperfections are part of the masterpiece. They are there to teach us something we need to know about the character of God. And they are beautiful, messy, hard, and breathtaking.
This Adventures in Odyssey was powerful and touching – accessible and educational for children and convicting for adults.
I thank Family Christian for the opportunity to review it.
