Which of us hasn’t just sat, tears running down our faces, throats tight, wondering why? Why the pain? The anger? Frustration?
What are you doing you doing God?

I once heard a story about a family who desperately wanted their adopted daughter home with them. Unfortunately her birth country had coup after coup, constantly delaying her trip home to her forever family.
At the time they couldn’t be more discouraged. And who could blame them?
I have no doubt that many days they sat wondering why?
Years later after they had their daughter home, the family was talking and discussing what the kids wanted to do with their futures. They found out that their older daughters, having gotten to experience their sister’s birth country because of the delayed and changed travel, now had a heart for working there.

You know those days that feel like steel wool on your soul, reopening a place that just healed, or just barely healed?
You know how after days, weeks, months, or sometimes years after this you are exhausted? Like can’t MOVE exhausted? Can’t THINK exhausted? Can only-survive-until-tomorrow exhausted?
You know when you get a break from it for a time, the wound starts to scab or callous?
And that once soft place on you now looks changed. Different.
While you’re in the middle of it, it’s raw and painful.
But on the other side, you have no idea what this changed will look like.
What if it’s beautiful, bigger, and more than you could ever ask or imagine?
If God is changing you by doing hard things, I know that the journey, the day-by-day, is challenging. Painful. Rough.
But the end, the masterpiece, the new different will be beautiful.
And until you get there, until we all get there, these verses can be our comfort.
Proverbs 30:1 I am weary but I will prevail.
Psalm 126:5-6 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow,will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
Sisters you are doing hard things. And God is using these hard things to make BEAUTIFUL things.
