Seven years ago when I met my husband and we started dating, I had ideas for every gift, every occasion, in advance, sometimes up to a year.
Now with a lack-of-sleep and mommy-brain, I’m lucky if I think of something in time to get it shipped before Christmas.
I have discovered over the last few years that guys (I don’t think this is just my guy) think about gifts differently than gals. Is it just me or does appealing to their manliness, even in gift-giving, stir something in them?
A stocking cap with a crochet beard? Yes please.
MREs for their trunk or pack? Yup.
Specialty jerky or jerky of the month? Heck to the yea.
I also like to include a gift that says I haven’t just been listening to you talk, I’ve been hearing you. And here is a way I can support you. Sometimes it’s set of prayers I’ve prayed for him written in a journal. Sometimes it’s a book on something he wants to learn about. Sometimes it’s packing up and going to my sister’s for a few days so he can work straight through without any interruptions.
With all of these things in mind, I wanted to share some gift ideas with you all. And even if these don’t quite hit the mark with your husband, maybe they’ll help jog some ideas. And they are all under $25 because I know how important it is to keep on budget, especially with gift-giving.
They all have to shave right? I hear the best things about straight razors and the shaves they provide.
For the Tech/Planet-Earth Lover
So. Many. Things. To. Charge. So. Many. Cords. And maybe it’s just because I have a toddler currently ripping every cord out of every outlet in the house. But I love the idea of letting the sun help charge our devices, especially as we’re just driving down the road.
For the Card Player
Have you seen the pin floating around out there to use a deck of cards to write 52 things you love /respect about your husband? (Instructions here if you’re interested.) Why not put that on a deck of cards that you personalize with your own pictures!
For the Coffee Guy
Nothing quite says love like a GREAT cup of coffee. And the best cup of coffee comes from a French press. So send him out the door with a travel size French press, just for him.
For the Game of Strategy Lover
Men just love conquest and adventure – even in board game form. This game is super fun (and this from someone who isn’t big on strategy games!) and never the same twice.
For the Too-Manly to Drink Out of a Glass or Travel Mug
Drinking out of a mason jar does add a certain “manliness” to any beverage. These help make it spill-proof, especially great at the office, in the car, or for hot beverages.
For the Bearded Man
Men have a thing about their beards, don’t they? And us ladies, we like ’em soft so they don’t prickle and tickle when we’re trying to snuggle. Enter beard oil.
For the Man who Wishes He was Bearded
Maybe he can’t have a beard for work, doesn’t want to grow one because it’s itchy, or would really like to have two. I’m so glad someone thought to crochet a hat with a beard attached. Just delightful.
For a Constant Reminder
There is nothing like a truth written down for our husbands that they can look at whenever they are in need of a little uplifting. I saw these cards a while back and I thought “My words of endearment on metal? YESSSSSSS.”
What are some of your gift suggestions/ideas for this Christmas? I’d love to hear them!
P.S. I’ll share some of my favorite homemade gifts to add to your idea list! Post goes out Tuesday, Dec 2.
