Hi Friends. I have a serious ridiculous allergy attack going on and am extremely mucous-y. (Aren’t you glad I feel comfortable enough to over share with you?) And my voice is very deep and raspy and people are having a hard time hearing me and I can’t hear myself so….a video wasn’t the best idea for today but I missed you and I have cute stories to tell and all kinds of good stuff I want to share with you! So let’s go!
This Week’s Top 3 – My Top Three Musicals
I watch a lot of Disney movies with my kids. And I won’t lie I LOVE me some Toy Story 3, Tangled, and Frozen. I also have had the Sofia the First theme song stuck in my head for approximately 11 straight days. However I felt ill-prepared to say my Top 3 Disney movies without some serious defense prepared so I thought I’d go with my favorite musicals. To qualify I’ve had to actually seen it on stage. For example, Hairspray doesn’t count because I’ve only seen the film version (which I love but I digress).
1. Wicked – Yep, this is a relatively new addition, as I only saw it a year ago. Great birthday gift. Storyline: it’s the prequel/simultaneousquel (I made that word up) of The Wizard of Oz but more from Elphaba (aka The Wicked Witch) and Glinda’s point of view. The music is catchy. The story line is superb. And it’s clever. Just so clever. Favorite Song: Popular.
2. Music Man – This was the long-running favorite. Storyline: A fast-talking traveling salesman comes to town to sell a band but really he just sells instruments and an idea. But the local piano teacher/librarian is on to him and tries to out him until the two of them fall in love. Lots of big musical numbers – most of which I have choreographed if ya know, I ever get asked to choreograph or direct a musical. Favorite Song: Sadder But Wiser
3. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat – This was a tough one, I won’t lie. Mostly because there were so many options. I chose this one for the awesomeness and also for the sheer number of times I’ve seen it. Storyline: Joseph is the favorite of 12 sons of his father and his brothers resent him for it. So they sell him to slave traders. And then he rises from slave to Pharaoh’s right-hand-man in Egypt during a famine, which causes his brothers to come looking for food. Almost the entire show is done to music and it is just awesome to watch or participate in. Favorite Song: Geeze, it’s like one big song. Favorite line? “Greatest man since Noah. Only goes to show ya. Any one from any where can make it if they get a lucky break!”
Shower Report
Man, this is a story in and of itself. And could take me more than one post to write. So I will tell you it went well. High five. And that my voice made it through the entire day. YAY! And MOST importantly my sister and her fiance enjoyed themselves. So that’s a win. So you’ll get more details later this week. All of them. Posts worth. You’ll probably be sick of hearing about it. Something to look forward to.
My Cutie Kids
My oldest, Lemonade, age 3, starting making her bed on her own accord this week. I’m like wow. She also picked up over 200 pine cones for 1 cent each. She’s hard worker. I’m sure she’s said some seriously cute stuff too but I can’t think of anything right now.
My son, Dozer, almost 2, took off his shirt today in Sears and did push ups. I cannot make this stuff up.
Also we went to a Memorial Day parade last week. We learned that parades aren’t JUST about candy and we got to ask a lot of questions like “Mommy, why do they have babies on their shirts” as the Right to Life group marched past and we got to talk about all the babies having value and my mama heart was soaring. Also my little man cub sat on my lap. Happily. And I was just a-soakin’ it in.
Pregnancy Update
I’m 20 weeks. We had our anatomy scan and the baby looks so great. We counted all of the fingers and toes and the spine was just beautiful. We decided not to find out the gender. It came down to obviously we were curious but that overall it was more fun to wait to find out.
My weight gain is normal and steady and I think my belly only gets big all at once because otherwise I hardly notice it. Even though I know that’s not exactly true. HA.
Cravings are minimal which is probably for the best for our grocery budget. 🙂
Baby is the size of a banana.

Leah! Wicked is my favourite musical too!! (closely run by Legally Blonde The Musical but I think that’s not something I should admit on a public forum…ooops).
Leah says
I haven’t seen Legally Blonde the musical! There are so many I still want to see. I should have said Any Get Your Gun for my #3!

That was a pretty great shower. Also I really thought you’d go with Mowgli for the little one.

Dozer – from when Hubs thought I’d name him “Bulldozer” because I would do that apparently…
