This past weekend, we celebrated the 2nd birthday of my sweet (not so) baby boy. We kicked it into gear Friday with breakfast at Cracker Barrel where they gave him ice cream at breakfast (the greatest toddler win of all time) and then we hit the playground for a few hours. Saturday we went to the zoo, saw the baby gorillas (which was maybe more for me than for him), and rode the choo choo train before calling it a day. Then we had a whole family day on Sunday. This kid is learning what “birthday” means. I didn’t get a video, but he told everyone “It’s my birt-day day!” and in answer to “how old are you?” we got a “me big boy”. Yup. You big boy.
I need to make a video for a friend’s wedding in a couple weeks and obviously my video for you all and wouldn’t you know, we’re smack in the middle of a 95 degree week and y’all, I’m melting. To help with the heat we were on our way to Chipotle (thanks hunny) for some dinner and the car battery is dead because I let the kids play Magic School Bus in there earlier (doors ALL open of course!). So while we wait for AAA to get here (thanks to my mother-in-law) we will head that way. Until then, you can watch my daughter being Ms. Frizzle the raddest science teacher that ever was animated.
On the Homestead
I went to replant seeds that hadn’t come up and discovered that a mouse with a very discerning palette had eaten just the corn, sunflower, and squash seeds. So that meant I got to *SURPRISE* clean the garage one day and then fill in the holes with cucumbers and beets because apparently Mr. Mousey-poo didn’t like those seeds. (In his defense beet seeds are weird looking and making they hurt to eat like Cap’n Crunch?..they kind of have that shape…)
Also the kiddie inflatable pool is now the home to some fast-growing tadpoles, which was really not the plan. I guess it could be a weirdly fun science experiment for the kids? Until there’s approximately 30 toads competing for swimming space. Then maybe not so much.
My Cutie Family
My kids just sang “Happy Birthday” to my brother’s voicemail and really, it’s blocking out all the other cute from the week. Except for today’s Magic School Bus adventure and also my daughter turning the Cozy Coupe and the wagon into a train. Dozer’s cuteness was from his birthday.
Baby Update
I am 22 weeks. I’m feeling baby move a lot more. I’m moving into the ‘sweet spot’ of pregnancy where I may pee a lot and get way overheated way fast but I no longer get nauseous if I don’t eat the second I get hungry. I had Chipotle for dinner tonight so that’s good news. Go to the midwife on Friday for another appointment. Kids are excited. They love to hear the baby’s heartbeat.
And in other news…
If you come see the blog you’ll notice that the redesign is partially started. I’ll let you know when it’s done because frankly I’ll be too excited to not to.

You are too cute!
Leah, I am subscribed but didn’t get by GYGO copy; should I sign up again? Also, I love the format of your Monday musings with updates on your week. I don’t drink coffee, but if I may join you around the “hot water with a squeeze of lime” cup, I will share that today we signed contracts to buy a new house, a big family house that we can grow into over the years to come. Very exciting and also a little daunting! We move in a month ๐
