So the plan was to make you just an awesome sauce video today and talk about the things that make me weird (which are many) but friends, these bangs. It’s getting out of hand. And I can’t handle it or know what to do with them. Except braid them every day. Which just isn’t happening in this crazy humidity. And this is totally not a reflection on my commitment to you all but commentary on the hair situation I have found myself in. It’s so many kinds of wonky.
But I know you want to know three really weird things about me, so I will tell you what they are anyways. YAY! See I know what the people want.
- I don’t like eating off of teaspoons. I eat all spoon-related foods (soup, ice cream, cereal, the like) off of a coup spoon. By stark contrast my mom has these uber tiny teaspoons that feel like miniature versions of my own regular teaspoons and I feel like I’m using a baby spoon.
- I don’t like to paint my finger nails. As soon as it chips it drives me bonkers. Plus I’m a nail chewer. Not really a biter per say, but I run my teeth along my nails a lot. So I don’t paint them unless an occasion really calls for it.
- I do however like to paint my toe nails, which I keep incredibly short because long nails bother me on myself and look gorgeous on all others. This is how I feel about it and I doubt you will change my mind.
On the Homestead
We are finishing up the last of the summer garden and beginning plans for the fall garden. We found wood chips so let me tell you how happy the Mister is. Fall garden will have lettuce, chard, kale, spinach, beets, carrots, and maybe turnips. Also fall flowers for the bees. Me and the princess will plant those soon.
My Cutie Family
Where to start? Well, we got maternity photos done last week and that meant the kiddos needed hair cuts. The princess wouldn’t look straight at me so her bangs are short and very uneven. Good thing hair grows! Also she brought her camera along to the shoot to help our photographer. She told me to say, “Seaweed” which she learned from Octonauts. Our photographer thought it was hilarious.
Our son wanted to be in every picture so he tried many photo bombs. I can’t wait to see how these turn out! I will share them when they are done and my photographer gives me the thumbs up.
Our friends lent us their inflatable bounce house with water slide and my kids are entertained for hours. I could hardly get them inside for naps today. And they’re geared up to go right back out.
Our still-in-utero family member is getting wigglier and wigglier. Last night I had to wait for him/her to get situated so that I could get situated in bed. I forget I think how big they get in there.
Pregnancy Update
Well besides wiggly baby, let me tell you, I’m hungry. There is never enough food. We went to a family from church’s house and I just was so hungry. I looked like I hadn’t eaten in days. I’m sure. How did I forget this part too? I forget everything.
I’m 33 weeks and the baby is the size of a Durian, which I don’t even know what that is. But it’s on the internet so it must be true. (Allstate? Anyone? Anyways…) Baby is 17-19″ long (I’d guess on the long end, because we have tall babies) and 4-6 lbs. S/He definitely seems long in there and where s/he is able to stick out.
So we’re trying to figure out and settle on names for this wee one. And I just want to be prayerful that God already knows this baby’s name and I just want choose that name. So here’s praying.
What I’m Reading
I’m still reading Bringing Up Boys. Bringing Up Girls is next. Then Strong-Willed Child. Dr. Dobson is surely occupying my brain space. 🙂
Also, I’m reading Redeeming Childbirth. Gotta get more baby prep in!!
O, and GOOD NEWS! A book that I love so stinkin’ much is on sale on Kindle for the month of September. The WHOLE month. It’s $2.99 which is such a great deal for any book, but for a funny book that will give you encouragement as a mom looking for other mom friends? Yes. Get Women Are Scary, then let me know so I can properly geek with you.

Love, love,
A durian is in Malaysia (and probably other places). They are super stinky and really hard to get into but apparently if you can get past the smell they taste good. Ask Jennifer or Anna.
Wow. Stinky. Well, I don’t get past the smell of most things so I doubt this as an exception. But this is good to know.
