Deuteronomy 6:6-9 Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
Heavenly Father, God, I thank You for my husband. I thank You for the gift of children and that I have the joy of watching my husband interact with them. Being a parent and having influence over children is a life-changing, life-altering, and life-giving adventure. It’s heavy, and messy, and painful, and beautiful. Thank You that Your directions in Your Word show us how to interact with our kids. God, continue to grow in my husband how to interact our with kids so that each day, they may talk about You in the morning and evening, on the road or at home. Amen.

My daughter picked out a book at the library a couple weeks ago. It’s all about anger and positive ways to deal with anger and frustration. In the back of the book there is even a list you are supposed to go over with your kid so they have some tools for dealing with a bad mood.
My daughter is 3 so we read every. single. page. of the book. When my husband read the list of coping mechanisms to her, he said “O they missed one. Another important thing we can do is to talk to Jesus about our frustration. We can tell him about it just like we would tell mommy or daddy. And we can ask him to help us.”

Thanks, love, for pointing our children to Jesus. I love the way you phrase things and encourage our children in their relationships with God. Thank you for taking time to model this for them.

Now, it’s your turn. Take a minute and write what you’re thankful for when it comes to your husband’s job or a prayer of thanksgiving of your own. Put it in the comments, on facebook, twitter, or instagram. Be sure to use the hashtag #thankshubs and #day26kids when you post it. Leah, thanks so much for doing this series. Although I have not been writing in, your daily messages have had a tremendous impact on the way I am greeting each day. I am recovering from foot surgery and have been totally dependent on my husband to do everything around the house. He has been so wonderful and willing, despite his very demanding job outside the home. I am so grateful that I have this loving husband to take care of me and our children. When I start to get down on myself with this slow recovery, I remind myself of all that I have to be thankful for.
